Common faults and product defects analysis of technology/ceramic inkjet printing machines

    With the advancement and development of technology, ceramic inkjet printing machines are widely used in the current field of wall and floor tiles. The fields currently involved include exterior wall tiles, interior wall tiles, small floor tiles, wear-resistant rotary tiles, antique tiles, and glazed tiles; At the annual Ceramic Machinery and Equipment Expo held in May this year, ceramic wall and floor tile manufacturers who were brave enough to try new products further launched polished tile products using ceramic inkjet printers as printing media. Inkjet printing technology has been increasingly applied in the production of ceramic wall and floor tiles.

1.Advantages of ceramic inkjet printing machine:

1. Suitable for any material, with extremely wide compatibility.
2. No need for plate making, fast and cost-effective printing, available in various output software, supporting various file formats.
3. Equipped with professional color management software, you can change colors anytime and anywhere without paying any additional fees.
4. One step completion, immediate printing and retrieval, meeting the demand for quick sample production of finished products.
5. The unit price can start printing in large quantities and can be matched with template printing, saving time and effort.
6. Full color image, completed in one go, with progressive colors that fully achieve photo quality, precise positioning, and zero scrap rate.
8. Computer operation, no personnel dependence, large upgrade space.

2.Common faults and troubleshooting of ceramic inkjet printing machines:

1. Blockage of spray holes is the most common malfunction and cause of damage in ceramic inkjet machines
In order to achieve stable spraying, the viscosity of the ink must be constant. Due to the large difference in the specific gravity of the solvent and solute in ceramic ink, which can easily precipitate, different brands of ink currently use different types of solvents. Therefore, before selecting ink for use on the machine, it is necessary to carefully test the compatibility between the ink supply system and components such as pipelines, filters, and ink pumps that come into contact with the ink (specific methods will not be detailed here). To ensure that the components used are not “dissolved” by ink or reduce their lifespan, resulting in clogging of the nozzle. At the same time, different models and brands of nozzles have different adaptability to ink viscosity and other indicators, and testing should be done before use. And communicate well with ink suppliers and equipment manufacturers.

2. Wire drip ink
It is a common problem in inkjet production that affects quality and continuous production, mainly caused by nozzle blockage. Because the nozzle and ink dots are both very fine (micrometer sized), small impurities, dust, and water vapor are enough to block the nozzle or block the sprayed ink dots, so blockage is a common problem in inkjet machines.

   Generally speaking, blockage can be divided into internal blockage and external blockage of the nozzle. The blockage inside the nozzle is generally caused by two main reasons: ink path pollution and ink deposition, while ink path pollution is generally caused by incomplete cleaning of newly installed parts. Therefore, when replacing parts, strict cleaning is required before starting the machine. At the same time, selecting the appropriate filter is also crucial. If it is too coarse, it can cause nozzle blockage, while if it is too fine, it can cause filter blockage itself. Ink precipitation is closely related to both the suspension of ink and the ink supply system of the machine itself. A good supply system can ensure that the nozzle maintains unobstructed spray holes and sufficient ink supply in standby, continuous full printing, and small intermittent printing states. Otherwise, there will be frequent clogging, uneven spraying of small ink, insufficient supply of large ink, resulting in defects of yin and yang colors.
   The general external and internal blockages of Ruiran can be treated through automatic or manual cleaning methods, but this is very time-consuming and affects production. Therefore, the performance of continuous and stable production is the most important indicator to measure the quality of an inkjet printer.
   External blockage is generally caused by the machine itself or external pollution. External pollution can come from dust in the workshop, as well as mud, dust, and water vapor brought in by bricks. The pollution caused by the machine itself comes from the ink dots sprayed by the nozzle, which cannot adhere to the brick surface, float up, and finally fall on the nozzle, accumulating more and more. To reduce the mud and dust pollution brought in by bricks, it is necessary to do a good job of cleaning the bricks entering the inkjet machine room. It is generally required to lower the temperature to below 40 degrees Celsius, with almost no water vapor emerging, and blow clean the edges, glaze powder, dust, etc. of the body. This problem can be achieved by installing multiple hair dryers. To reduce the pollution brought into the inkjet room by the workshop, it can be solved by maintaining positive pressure in the room (note that the air injected into the room must first be filtered through dust removal).

3. Unstable vacuum degree during the production process: Air enters the ink cartridge or the ink path leaks; The solution is:
1) Check if the ink supply pump, defoaming pump, and circulation pump are working properly. When replacing the ink supply pump and defoaming pump, be sure to carefully inspect the inlet and outlet pipelines;
2) Check for air leakage in the inlet and outlet pipes of the defoamer and filter;
3) Is the clamp of the filter pipeline tightly clamped? If it is not clamped, re clamp the pipeline.

4. Ink shortage during the production process: Possible causes include: insufficient defoamer or filter, high voltage, or low ink viscosity; The solution is:
1) Check if the defoamer is in a full ink state. If not, check if the defoamer is working properly;
2) Reduce voltage;
3) Reduce temperature and increase ink supply frequency;

5. During the production process, there is an image hitting the belt: the recognition of the electric eye is not accurate. Check if the height of the electric eye is too low or if it is covered with ink. Wipe the electric eye with a clean cloth and then adjust the position of the electric eye to a higher point.
6. There is no ink in the overflow pipeline, and the inkjet machine alarms: the ink pump is not working properly. Gradually increase the frequency of the ink pump and observe the ink situation in the overflow pipeline; The maximum frequency of the ink pump is 18Hz.
7. If the cooling machine is not working properly and the inkjet printer alarms, check if the inlet and outlet water pipes of the cooling machine are blocked and if there is water in the pipes. If there is no water, it needs to be filled up; Check if the cooling temperature is within the set temperature.
8. Overlap or missing at the nozzle connection: Possible reasons may be whether the nozzle connection has been changed or if the belt is moving; The solution is:
1) Adjust the connection point of the nozzle and add points when overlapping points are missing;
2) Check if the belt is horizontal or in the same straight line. If it is not in the same straight line, try to adjust the belt.
